2020 Telehealth Expansion

We are proud to report that we will be expanding our Ehlers-Danlos care/support telehealth offerings outside of the state of Oregon for the very first time! Our EDS Specialists Chie Tadaki and Michael Makher, both of whom have been personally trained by Head Physical Therapist, EDS Researcher and President of the Oregon Ehlers-Danlos Society Heather Purdin, will be leading this effort. Telehealth appointments remain available for Oregon residents as well.

The EDS Remote Support Team

Chie Tadaki PT, DPT

Chie Tadaki has spent the last several years helping Ehlers-Danlos patients in Oregon not only regain control of their health but to realize their new potential. Her extensive background in chronic pain treatment, neurological conditions, neural injury and Yoga makes her uniquely qualified to guide our EDS patients in their education and rehabilitation. She has worked extensively with Heather Purdin in making Good Health the resource it is for Ehlers-Danlos patients. She is currently collaborating with Heather on a book detailing their work in the treatment and research of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Chie is currently able to provide Telehealth services to patients located in Oregon, and Washington.

Michael Makher PT, DPT

Michael Makher has extensive education and experience in therapeutic movement, strength training and restoring human resilience. His knowledge of musculoskeletal conditions and the management of persistent pain informs his Ehlers-Danlos treatment regimen and resonates strongly with his patients. He has worked with Heather Purdin in her management of the Oregon’s EDS population, and been instrumental in developing education and rehabilitation plans for our patients. Michael is currently able to provide Telehealth services to patients located in Oregon and Texas.

What To Expect

We pride ourselves on treating the whole patient, and meeting them where they are currently at with regard to their recovery. Every patient is different and EDS affects them in different ways. Previous injuries, hormonal differences, socioeconomic factors can all affect treatment regimens. We believe that a “one size fits all” style of treatment is neither appropriate nor adequate for the EDS population. We will strive to understand your unique challenges and experiences and work together to help you take control.

You will be evaluated based on your medical history and screened for comorbid conditions as well as EDS to determine your current level of involvement. Nutrition education, muscular evaluation and coaching, stretching and exercise education, self mobilization techniques, physiological quieting methods are all utilized in our treatment of EDS. In treating the whole patient and teaching the patient to treat themselves we have found they are able to return to their lives with confidence.

Our support team will work with you via our telehealth system which requires you to have access to a computer or phone with a video camera and internet connection. Detailed instructions for signing into your appointment will be provided upon scheduling. We encourage you to call and schedule as soon as possible as spaces are limited. We look forward to working with you toward a brighter and healthier future! Live well!
