Balance Training

Balance is made up of 3 systems: what your feet feel on the ground (somatosensory), what your eyes tell your brain (visual), and what your inner ear inputs to your brain (vestibular). One or more of these systems being disrupted can cause loss of balance and falls. PT can help to train your muscles to increase stability around joints and improve your proprioception and balance reactions in order to allow you to continue with your daily activities without being fearful of falling. Strength and flexibility help to improve your balance and a PT can educate you on safety and proper modifications if needed.
